T he Eoin Morgan-led squad features a fresh look as the selectors have opted against picking those who are currently engaged in the Test series as part of workload management. While there aren't any uncapped players in the squad, the likes of Tom Banton, Joe Denly, Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory, who have played only a handful of T20I matches, will get an opportunity to make a mark. In addition to Morgan, the other experienced members include Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, David Willey and Chris Jordan among others. All three T20Is will be played at Old Trafford between 28 August and 1 September. England have also named Pat Brown, Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley as reserves.

Babar Azam only batsman inside top-five across all formats

Babar Azam has strengthened his status as the world’s most gifted, skilled, and all-rounded batsman by returning to the top-five of the latest ICC Test batting rankings, by virtue of which he has become the only batsman to feature in the top-five across all formats. In the latest ICC rankings, released after the Southampton Test, Babar has leapfrogged Australia’s David Warner into the fifth position and now has New Zealand captain Kane Williamson firmly within his sights. The batting table is headed by Australia’s Steve Smith with India’s Virat Kohli in second place. Joe Root, who makes the ‘fab-five’ along with Smith, Kohli, Williamson, and Babar, is ranked ninth....

England have not played in Pakistan since 2005/06. An attack by armed militants on Sri Lanka s team bus in Lahore in 2009 ended major cricket tours for a decade, with Pakistan playing the majority of their subsequent  home  matches in the United Arab Emirates. But Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Bangladesh have all since made the trip to Pakistan. Pakistan are 1-0 down in a three-Test series in England after a weather-affected drawn second Test at Southampton on Monday followed a three-wicket loss at Old Trafford earlier this month. "I d love to go and visit Pakistan,"  Root told reporters after stumps at the Ageas Bowl in an echo of recent comments made by England coach Chris Silverwood. "It would be a great opportunity to go and play there personally. Unfortunately, it s not my...
